Forms of Relief Against Removal Proceedings

Many illegal foreign nationals contact us after being put in jail or after having received a Notice to Appear from the Department of Homeland Security, to have them removed from the United States. Securing a bond can be challenging. As your legal representative, we will work to get you out on bond. If this is not possible, we will strive to find a form of relief you will qualify for.

In researching possibilities for relief, we draw upon our knowledge of Massachusetts criminal law and procedures and our awareness of criminal law throughout the United States. Finding the best solution to your problem is very labor intensive and requires an in depth knowledge of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

We consider many factors in determining if a form of relief is applicable to your situation. They can include your years of residency and background, as well as what you have accomplished since you have been in the United States.

Forms of relief that may be relevant can include the following:

  • Asylum
  • Convention against torture
  • Withdrawal or cancellation of removal
  • Temporary protective status
  • Protection under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)
  • Adjustment of Status
  • 212(c) relief
  • Suspension of deportation
